Make-up ARTist

Regarder... Voir... Imaginer
Look... See... Imagine

I write as I paint, I paint as I do make-up
La page blanche, la toile, la peau.
The white page, the fabric, the skin

LIGHT AND FOUNDATION
LUMIERE ET FOND DE TEINT

In make-up, a FOUNDATION is precisely that – it forms the backdrop of a perfect complexion, it is a precious material that should reveal rather than conceal it. The skin is a noble material – a filter between us and the outside world – both a border and a messenger. It is a place of internal – external exchange.

Like all borders, it has its rules and laws that cannot be disregarded.

There are entry visas, exit visas and laws that must be abided by during visits.

In order to have beautiful skin, it needs to be healthy, balanced and well looked after.

The point is not to cover, conceal or transform its natural characteristics; and there is no way you can be aggressive with it.

More than simply touched, it must be loved, cuddled. Avoid being rough with it or traumatizing it (making it too cold, too warm, too oily or too active). Skin that feels good is slightly fresh when touched and stays like this (the feeling may even be intensified) when cream, then make-up, is applied.

This feeling is essential when the product is being applied and later during the whole time it remains on the skin.

Then, it’s the illumination of the skin that is important. The foundation must catch the light and transform it into radiance rather than shine – a glow that has nothing to do with being “oily”. This natural light must highlight the face’s natural volumes. The foundation is chosen based on the skin type and the circumstance in which it will be worn.

The moment during which this foundation is applied has the same importance as “foreplay” when making love. The time dedicated to this is a sure key to happiness. In order for a foundation to suit any particular skin type, whatever its features (more fluid, thicker, higher coverage…) it must always be lightweight, pleasant and truly feel like a second skin … as natural as the first, only better!

---
